Selvete Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi is a Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo.

Judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi is a jurist by profession and a PhD candidate at the Institute of International Law and International Relations, at « Karl Franzens Universitat » in Austria.

Since 1999, she has worked in three fields: human rights, drafting and commenting laws, and gender equality. In all these professional positions, she has been sponsored by international organizations, such as: NRC, OSCE, UN WOMEN and UNDP.

During all this period of time, judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi has professionally assisted civil society organizations as well. Since 2003, she has chaired the Board of the « Center for Protection of Victims and Prevention of Trafficking ». In 2012, she has also supported the « Kosovo Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims ».

Judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi teaches several law courses as well. Starting with the Helsinki Consulting Group, during 2005 – 2009, she has contributed as a lecturer/advisor to the establishment of the Social Pedagogy Department, at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina. She has also lectured at the Political Science Department, Tempus Programme, « Local Governance and Civil Society ».

During her career, judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi has been the author and co-author of several publications/researches/articles:

• Research under the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission: « Human Security, Organized Crime and Terrorism Challenges in Kosovo’s Perspective« ;
• Manual for Kosovo Social Services Officers: « Responding to Domestic Violence Cases » – co-author, published by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo;
• UNICEF Report: »The Legal Framework for Child Rights in Kosovo » – co-author, published by UNICEF;
• « Legal Options of Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at Local Level » – evaluation Report for the Kosovo Law Center/supported by CRS/USAID;
• « Women Trafficking and Prostitution » – a book published in Albanian, Serbian and English language;
• « Trafficking in Women, UNMIK Challenges » – published by Kosovo Law Center;
• « Universal Declaration of Human Rights – Article 4, Prohibition of Slavery – Advocating for Human Rights » –  published in the daily “Zëri”.

Judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi is married and has two children.
