Bekim Sejdiu (1974) is a Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo.
Prior to his appointment as a Judge at the Constitutional Court (April 2015), Judge Sejdiu has served as a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo. He belongs to the first generation of ambassadors of the Republic of Kosovo. In this capacity, he has served as Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in the Republic of Turkey (2008-2012) and Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in New-York (2012-2014). Before being assigned as Ambassador, Judge Sejdiu served as a political advisor in the Cabinet of the First Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo.
Since 2002, Judge Sejdiu is a Professor (assistant) at the Department of International Law of the Law Faculty of University of Prishtina.
Judge Sejdiu has completed his law studies at the Law Faculty of the University of Prishtina (1999). He has completed two master studies: in the area of international relations at the University of Bilkent (2005) and in the area of democracy and human rights at the University of Sarajevo and University of Bologna (2001). Judge Sejdiu has earned his doctoral degree in International and Diplomatic Studies, at the Faculty of Government and European Studies – Nova Univerza, in Slovenia.
Throughout his public engagement, Judge Sejdiu was closely involved in efforts to promote social tolerance, rule of law, human rights and gender equality, thus being part of the founding group and at the same time a member of Professional Researcher Council of Kosovo Institute for Policy Research and Development – KIPRED (2002-2008). In the period 2000-2002 he was also a program director at the Kosovo Foundation for Civil Society – KFCS.
During his public activity, Judge Sejdiu has been awarded a number of decorations and appreciations: the Decoration of the Assembly of New York State (USA), Key to the City of Worcester (Massachusetts, USA) and a medal from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
Having been an active part in the university teaching, Judge Sejdiu has conducted study visits to different universities in Europe and USA. He has published numerous academic articles in various international and local academic journals.
Judge Sejdiu is married to Alberie Sejdiu (Rraci), a teacher at the primary school “Hasan Prishtina” in Prishtina. They have three children: Melisa, Samira and Jon.
