President Caka – Nimani received in a meeting the German Ambassador, Jörn Rohde

The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Gresa Caka – Nimani received in a meeting the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo, Mr. Jörn Rohde.

The work of the Constitutional Court so far, the efforts to increase transparency in the work and to consolidate the case law in line with the standards of the European constitutional judiciary, were among the topics discussed at the joint meeting.

President Caka – Nimani took the opportunity to express her gratitude for the continuous support that the German Government has provided to the Constitutional Court since its establishment, through various projects implemented with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation “GIZ” and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation “IRZ”.

Ambassador Rohde confirmed the commitment of the German Government to support Kosovo institutions in efforts to strengthen the rule of law in the country.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
