On 29 and 30 September 2011, a group of twelve legal advisors and researchers of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, participated in a workshop organized by the USAID Effective Rule of Law Program.

The purpose of the workshop, organized at the Nora Hotel in Klina, was to provide additional training for legal advisors and researchers who directly support the work of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo. The USAID Effective Rule of Law Program tailored the workshop with the goal of improving the participants’ abilities in the areas of legal issue identification and analysis, and legal research and writing.

The interactive workshop sessions were facilitated by Senior Judge Stephen Swanson, Program Senior Judicial Training Advisor.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
