Selvete Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi is a Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo.
Judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi is a jurist by profession and a PhD candidate at the Institute of International Law and International Relations, at “Karl Franzens Universitat” in Austria.
Since 1999, she has worked in three fields: human rights, drafting and commenting laws, and gender equality. In all these professional positions, she has been sponsored by international organizations, such as: NRC, OSCE, UN WOMEN and UNDP.
During all this period of time, judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi has professionally assisted civil society organizations as well. Since 2003, she has chaired the Board of the “Center for Protection of Victims and Prevention of Trafficking”. In 2012, she has also supported the “Kosovo Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims”.
Judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi teaches several law courses as well. Starting with the Helsinki Consulting Group, during 2005 – 2009, she has contributed as a lecturer/advisor to the establishment of the Social Pedagogy Department, at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina. She has also lectured at the Political Science Department, Tempus Programme, “Local Governance and Civil Society”.
During her career, judge Gërxhaliu-Krasniqi has been the author and co-author of several publications/researches/articles:
