At the invitation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, a delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo led by Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, President of the Court, joined the marking of the 100th Anniversary of the functioning of the Albanian Justice System that is taking place these days in Tirana.

In the seminar organized on Thursday by the Constitutional Court of Albania in cooperation with the German Foundation “Hanns Seidel”, on the topic: “Role of the Constitutional Court in the State of Law”, the President of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, held a speech in front of a wide audience of judges of the Albania’s judiciary.

After presenting a short history of the development of the Kosovar constitutional justice, President Hasani said that modern constitutionalization in Kosovo was sanctioned and put into practice only after the declaration of its independence on 17 February 2008. From this date onwards, according to President Hasani, Kosovo embarked on a fast journey to building basic constitutional institutions of an independent and sovereign state.

Further President Hasani said that the Constitutional Court of Kosovo from its foundation to this day has taken a deserved place in Kosovo’s constitutional system and, it was never faced with non-enforcement of its decisions, even though there is no guarantor for the enforcement of the decisions. According to President Hasani, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo besides being a guardian of the Constitution, it will also actively and courageously intervene to ensure the separation of powers and to oversee the constitutional quality of laws.
