The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, received today in an official meeting, in the premises of the Court, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Dirk Niebel, who was heading a delegation of senior German officials accompanied by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo, Mr. Hans Dieter Steinbach.

During the meeting, President Hasani informed Mr. Niebel of the composition, functioning and development of the Constitutional Court, as well as about of issues regarding the rule of law in Kosovo.

President Hasani also informed his interlocutors about the challenges the Constitutional Court is continuously facing in its work, both in the technical and legal aspect, thanking at the same time the German Government for the provided assistance and support.

On the other hand, Minister Niebel reconfirmed the support of the German Government for the Constitutional Court of Kosovo assuring President Hasani that the institution he is heading will continue to enjoy the necessary assistance for better functioning in conformity with its mission.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
