Judge Istrefi – Peci received a group of students from German universities

The Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Remzije Istrefi – Peci, received a group of students from German universities, with most of them being law students.

The history of the drafting of the Constitution and the establishment of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, the role that it has in the hierarchy of the country’s justice system and the constitutional obligation to apply the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights in the decision-making, were just some of the topics on which Judge Istrefi – Peci focused during her presentation.

She gave a brief description of the process of electing constitutional judges and their mandate, as well as the procedure for submitting referrals and the duration of review of cases.

The German students, among others, expressed their interest in being more closely informed about the structure and current composition of the Court, its relations with other counterpart courts as well as the nature of the submitted referrals.
