The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo is organizing a workshop in Skopje, Macedonia, on 2 and 3 November 2012, together with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The discussion topic shall be: “Procedures of the Constitutional Courts to control constitutionality of state measures of all three branches of Government – possible reactions to unconstitutionality”.

The workshop shall be presided by Prof. Dr. Lothar Michael, Professor of Public and Constitutional Law at the University of Dusseldorf in Germany.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
