Students and Civil Society members visited the Constitutional Court on “Open Court Day”

Students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina”, of the primary school “Besim Rexhepi” from the village of Komoglavë in the Municipality of Ferizaj and representatives of civil society organizations visited the Constitutional Court during the next activity “Open Court Day”, organized to mark the Constitution Day, adopted on 9 April 2008.

The President of the Constitutional Court, Mrs. Gresa Caka – Nimani, hosted the students of the Legal Clinic of the Free Legal Aid Center of the Kosovo Law Institute (IKD), who, among other things, informed them about the importance of drafting the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, on the history of the constitutional law in the country and the important role played by the Constitutional Court in the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms, referring in every decision to the judicial practice of the European Court of Human Rights.

The students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” and of the elementary school “Besim Rexhepi” from the village of Komoglavë in the Municipality of Ferizaj, were hosted by the judge of the Constitutional Court, Mr. Jeton Bytyqi. During his presentation, Judge Bytyqi made a brief presentation about the history of the establishment of the Constitutional Court, the current composition and mandate of constitutional judges, as well as the relationship of this court with the courts of other levels within the judicial system in the country.
