The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Constitutional Court of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), is organizing a workshop on the topic: “The right to a fair trial within reasonable time”, which will be held on Friday 31 October 2014, at the “Swiss Diamond” Hotel in Prishtina. 

The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof Dr. Enver Hasani, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs. Angelika Viets, and Mr. Volkmar Theobald, Project Manager of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), shall address with an opening speech the participants to this workshop, which commences at 09:00 hrs.

In this workshop, among other things will be discussed the role and jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court in addressing possible violations of the right to a fair trial within a reasonable time.

Moderator of the workshop will be Prof. Dr. Andreas L. Paulus, Judge of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
