The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, received today for an official meeting the European Union Special Representative in Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Žbogar.

After welcoming him to our country and wishing him success in his new assignment, President Hasani briefed the senior European official on the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo.

He thanked Mr. Žbogar for the support the European Union has provided so far to the Constitutional Court and expressed the need for further assistance vis-à-vis challenges this institution faces.

On the other hand, Mr. Žbogar said he was impressed with the work of the Court done so far and promised the EU support towards the consolidation of the constitutional justice in Kosovo.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
