Legal Advisors of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo and of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kosovo participated in a joint workshop on the topic: “Constitutional and Supreme Court Relations with the Media”, held at the Sirius Hotel in Prishtina, on Thursday, 14 July 2016.

Supported by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), the workshop aimed at training the legal advisors of both courts on active and professional relations with the media, benefits and advantages of good relations with the public, and interpretation of court decisions in the media.

The moderator of the workshop was the Presiding Judge at the Administrative Court of the Land of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, Prof. Dr. Jan Bergmann, who also elaborated on the differences between confidentiality and transparency in the work of the courts.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
