Invited to attend the 102nd Plenary Session of the Venice Commission, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, and judge, Mr. Sc. Arta Rama-Hajrizi traveled to Venice, Italy, on Wednesday, 18 March 2015. 

The 102nd Plenary Session of the Venice Commission will take place on 20 and 21 March 2015, wherein President Hasani shall participate as a member representative of the Republic of Kosovo whereas judge Rama-Hajrizi as a deputy-member.

President Hasani shall also participate as a panelist member in the sessions of the following three Sub-Commissions of the Venice Commission: on judiciary, democratic institutions and fundamental rights, which will be held on Thursday, 19 March 2015.

Then, on Saturday, 21 March 2015, President Hasani shall travel from Venice to Kuwait to attend the 9th Symposium of the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils in the capacity of the representative of the Venice Commission.

The topic of the 9th Symposium is: “Role of the Constitutional Judiciary in developing constitutional and political systems – Arab Experiences”, and will take place in Kuwait on 22 March 2015.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
