On Wednesday, 23 July 2014, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo deliberated on the case KO119/14, submitted by Xhavit Haliti and 29 other deputies of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Constitutional Court has issued and published its decision on interim measure, suspending the decision on the election of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, No. 05-V-001, voted by 83 deputies of the Assembly on 17 July 2014, and imposing upon the Assembly to refrain from any action until the final decision of the Court.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
