On Monday, 12 May 2014, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo will solemnly mark the commencement of the project which enables the training of legal advisors of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasburg.

Participants of this solemnity, starting at 13:30, shall be addressed with an occasional speech by Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, President of the Constitutional Court, Mrs. Krystyna Marty Lang, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Kosovo, as the main financial supporter of this project, and Mr. Tim Cartwright, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Prishtina, which has mediated the training in Strasburg.

The attending guests to this event shall be greeted also by two legal advisors of the Constitutional Court from Strasburg who have already begun their training at the European Court of Human Rights.

The training of the Constitutional Court legal advisors at the Strasburg Court is intended to enable them acquire best practices of the European justice and apply such practices in Kosovo’s constitutional justice.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
