The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, received today a delegation from the Supreme Court of the Republic of Albania, headed by its President, Prof. Dr. Xhezair Zaganjori.

President Hasani informed the distinguished guests from Albania about the organization and the functioning of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo and about the relations with other institutions of justice in the country. He also took the opportunity to thank the Republic of Albania and all international donors for the contribution given to the Constitutional Court of Kosovo and to the strengthening of the rule of law in Kosovo.

The President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Albania, Prof. Dr. Xhezair Zaganjori, highly evaluated the integrity and professionalism of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo and stressed the necessity for an independent judiciary as a precondition for an efficient state of law.

He expressed his confidence that the good relations between the judicial institutions of both countries will further intensify through mutual exchange of experiences.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
