The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, today was for an official visit in Sofia, Bulgaria, at the invitation of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.

During his stay in Sofia, President Hasani was received from the Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Mrs. Tanya Mihaylova, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Mr. Dragomir Yordanov, and other senior state officials.

Within the scope of this visit, President Hasani held a public lecture at the National Institute of Justice on the topic “The Role and Position of the Constitutional Courts in Society: The Case of Kosovo”.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
