The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), is organizing a workshop in Sandanski, Bulgaria, on 12 and 13 March 2012, on the topic “Judicial Constitutional Reviews in Kosovo – A German Perspective”.

The workshop shall be presided by Prof. Dr. Lothar Michael, a professor at the University of Dusseldorf, Germany, whilst Mrs. Stefka Stoeva and Mr. Rumen Nenkov, judges of the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria, and Prof. Dr. Xhezair Zaganjori, judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, are invited guests.

 

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
