The Constitutional Court of Kosovo unveiled its official website on February 27, 2009. The website was developed under the Kosovo Constitutional Justice Initiative, a program implemented by the East-West Management Institute and supported by UK DFID. The interactive site, launched in Albanian, Serbian, and English, is designed to be an invaluable resource for the citizens of Kosovo, providing information about the composition, function, and structure of the court. Visitors to the website, www.gjk-ks.org, will be able to download the forms needed to file a petition and track court decisions.
With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms. The Court’s innovative website will increase the transparency of Kosovo’s judicial system and is an important step in building trust between Kosovo’s citizens and their governing institutions.
