In the administrative session of the Constitutional Court held last Thursday on 13 September 2012, the Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo have elected the new deputy-president, Prof. Dr. Ivan Čukalović.

Judge Čukalović shall replace in this position his colleague and the so far deputy-president of the Court, the judge Mr. sc. Kadri Kryeziu.
 
The mandate of the newly elected deputy-president is for 3 years and begins on 18 September 2012.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
