As of today, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo will have access to the electronic legal resource and database network, WestLaw, which is among the largest in the world.

This was acknowledged by the President of the Court, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, following his meeting with Mr. Tom Leighton, Vice-President of Thomson/Reuters company, which is also the sponsor of the one year donation of the WestLaw.

President Hasani stated among others that the donation of the WestLaw will be of great help to the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, in the field of legal research on constitutional issues that respective courts throughout the world are facing with.

On the other hand, Mr. Leighton confirmed that only a few countries in the region possess such a legal research tool.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
