The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, received today for an official visit the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Kahraman, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kosovo, Mrs. Songül Ozan.
President Hasani informed them on the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo through a short presentation of the two-year work of this institution.
He stressed the acknowledgement for the support and assistance the Turkish Government has provided for the Constitutional Court of Kosovo in its initiatives, as an institution for the supervision of the constitutionality in the country, thanking at the same time the Constitutional Court of Turkey for its cooperation and contribution up to now.
Minister Kahraman confirmed the continuous support of the Turkish Government for the development of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo and for the deepening of reforms in the justice system, expressing his conviction that the cooperation of these two countries in the field of justice shall be further intensified.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice in the Government of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Hajredin Kuqi, also took part in this meeting.

 

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
