The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, Mrs. Jozefina Topalli, received in Tirana, on Monday, 18 April, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, headed by its President, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani.

President Hasani informed Mrs. Topalli on the activities and development of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, assessing the bilateral cooperation of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo with the Constitutional Court of Albania as very important. Ms. Topalli encouraged both Courts to further deepen and develop this cooperation.

During the course of the visit of the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo to the Republic of Albania, Presidents of both Courts, Mr. Enver Hasani and Mr. Bashkim Dedja, signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation.

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, in cooperation with the German Foundation “Hans Seidel” for International Legal Cooperation, organized a workshop on “Incidental Control” in Durrës, whereby the President of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Enver Hasani, and Mr. Admir Thanza, Judge of the Constitutional Court of Albania, held a lecture.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo was established in January 2009.

With its authority to review legislation and individual complaints of rights violations, the Court is the ultimate check on legislative and executive power in Kosovo and the final arbiter of the meaning of constitutional provisions enshrining human rights and freedoms.
