Workshop on the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the Court of Justice of the EU

In continuation of joint professional workshops organized thus far, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Kosovo and with the support of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), organized the following workshop on “Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and the case law of the European Court of Justice”, which was held at the hotel “Sirius” in Prishtina, on 12 and 13 December 2018.

The importance of the Charter of Fundamental Rights for European integration, freedom of movement, right to election in the municipal elections and in elections in the European Parliament as well as the case law of the European Court of Justice, were just some of the topics addressed in the discussion developed between judges and legal advisors of the Constitutional Court and their counterparts from the Supreme Court of Kosovo.

The topic of discussion on which the participants of the workshop exchanged their views were the protection of human rights from the acts of public authorities, the principle of proportionality, and the right of petitions.

Workshop moderator was Prof. Dr. Jan Bergmann, Presiding Judge at the High Administrative Court of Baden-Württemberg, Germany and also Professor of Public and Constitutional Law at the University of Stuttgart.
